Old 1203s are pretty cheap (cheaper than 804s) and likely have the larger version of the re-sharpenable cast burrs which are in the 807 Lab Sweet version and older 804s. Around $350 to resharpen them up to three times. Older forum posts (TomC) switched his 1203 cast for machined and said the improvement was noticeable for brew.

I have only pulled a shot using a friend's Mazzer SJ once or twice, and never used any of the Ditting's, so anything I say will be pure speculation -- BUT I did notice that the Mazzer SJ uses flat burrs which are 64mm in diameter, while the Ditting 804 uses burrs 80mm in diameter, and the 1403 uses burrs with a …
